The first Test between Pakistan and England at Rawalpindi ended in a draw, with the hosts holding on for a draw on the final day. England had the better of the first innings, scoring 657 runs thanks to centuries from Zak Crawley and Ollie Pope. Pakistan responded with 579 runs, with Imam-ul-Haq and Abdullah Shafique scoring centuries. England then declared their second innings on 264/5, setting Pakistan a target of 343 runs. Pakistan chased down the target with relative ease, finishing on 343/7.

The match was notable for the number of runs scored, with both teams scoring over 600 runs in their first innings. This was the first time that two teams had scored over 600 runs in their first innings in a Test match since 2016. The match was also notable for the performance of Pakistan's bowlers, who took 20 wickets in the match. Shaheen Afridi was the pick of the bowlers, taking 6 wickets for 116 runs.

The draw leaves the series level at 0-0, with the second Test scheduled to start on December 9th.

The match was a thrilling contest that could have gone either way. Pakistan will be happy with the draw, as they were able to save the Test after being set a challenging target.
